Dodge is a handsome 2-year-old English Bulldog. He found himself in rescue due to his parents separating and his mom couldn’t take him with her because her parents were severely allergic to dogs. He is a loving, energetic, and funny little guy. He is housebroken. He weighs 40 pounds.
He’s both a couch potato and a crazy boy! He gets the zoomies and runs around like crazy. He is otherwise like most English bulldogs, satisfied with taking naps all day. He likes to be attached at hips to the owner but is fine when left alone. He is crate trained, knows plenty of commands (sit, down, floor, high five, shake, break, place). He is happiest lying next to you while you work. He has the cutest strut when walking and can walk far if it’s cooler out. He loves bones and will sit and eat the whole thing in a couple hours. He will play with toys if he’s in a zoomie mood, otherwise he loves to just accompany you everywhere.
He would love a family where someone is home most of the time, but he is able to be left alone with no issues. He would be fine with a single person giving him lots of attention, or many people who can split up their energy for him. He is as high maintenance as the family wants- he can go for long walks, but doesn’t require, he loves to join on coffee walks but can also just nap at home. because he is going to likely be a big boy, a larger space might be best.
Dodge has lived with children and did well with them. We are unsure of the ages of the children, but he loves kids when he passes kids on walks. He is very friendly and gentle with children of any age.
Dodge is a lover. Be prepared for a magnet dog that will want to be right with you all the time. He forgets how big he is and thinks he can sit on top of your lap while you work. He is a crowd pleaser and loves to be the center of attention. He lived previously with a pit bull and loves all dogs. It’s been hard to really get him socialized because he was recently neutered, Prior to being neutered when he passed dogs on the walks, he was very confident to go say hi and knows with a slight pull its time to keep walking and say bye. Dodge, like any brachycephalic dog, will need constant monitoring of his wrinkles, although he HATES the wrinkle cream and will lay down with his butt up and then run away to protest. He will also likely need to have his anal glands monitored as he is fighting some anal gland issues. He has had some irregular stools but is getting better. He will likely need diet management.
His ideal home would be the city, suburbs, an apartment or townhouse. He has adjusted to living in the city like a king. He loves the busyness and has learned to master the subway and loves to chase the city rats but would also be very happy with a space of his own in a fenced yard to play fetch. We are unsure if he has been around any cat. Please apply today if you are the right fit.
