Eddie

Eddie

Introducing sweet Eddie, a precious little soul who has had a rough time of it up until now. Can you imagine being locked up in a crate for up to 15 hours a day? And chewing on it until your teeth are all worn down? That was Eddie’s life before being surrendered.

There’s not much background, but Eddie was given to a local shelter before coming into rescue. He was, and still is, way too skinny because of his extreme food sensitivities which result in vomiting, for which he is on medication. In addition to the medications, omeprazole and famotidine, he is also on a special diet. Needless to say, this little nugget needs to put on some pounds.

Eddie is a pure and complete delight. He loves to play and engage in occasional bouts of mischief. He’s also usually on the move, playing with his balls or chewing on his balls. When he’s done with that, he’s ready to find a couch, a human, and a lap.

No worries about having company because Eddie is as friendly and outgoing as they come. He is, however, a serious resource guarder. If there are other animals in his adoptive home, Eddie will need to be fed separately. He also guards when you are cooking or eating your own food, so keeping him separate through the whole eating process is the best bet.

Eddie was recently neutered, but some vestiges of his randy days remain, including his proclivity to hump bigger dogs. This behavior should diminish as his hormones dry up.

Handsome Eddie needs a special home with special people – people who are willing to continue giving him his medicine and keeping him on his special diet. A single person or younger couple that have experience with short-nose dogs would be best. Other than that, city, suburb, or rural environments, in a townhouse, single-family home or apartment would be fine.

Let’s hear what Eddie’s foster mom has to say about him.

Eddie is a work-in-progress, but he learns fairly quickly and is totally worth it. He can be dominant with other dogs at times but will listen when given verbal corrections. His teeth are worn down from chewing on his crate when left locked up for too long. He is sweet and sensitive and loves cuddle time on the couch and would prefer to share the bed with his people.
