Smokey

Smokey
Hello wrinkle lovers! I’m Smokey, a 3-year-old English Bulldog and I’m retiring early from birthing babies. My offspring were swimmer pups, so I was no longer useful in the puppy making biz, and my breeder surrendered me to S.N.O.R.T.
This new living arrangement is strange and wonderful for me.  First, I have no babies to tend to, so I’ve got a lot of free time. My hobbies include lounging, chewing bones, eating meals and snacks and extra prizes that fall on the floor. I’m 52 pounds and not interested in losing any weight even if you think I should. If you want a dog to take along on a daily jog, keep on looking, because my legs are far too short and my motivation for strenuous activities is non-existent.  I’m a true Bulldog. Instead of activities that require exertion, I’d prefer getting petted, following you around the house, making snorty noises, and watching tv with you. These short legs don’t even like stairs, so minimal stairs in your house is best for me. Some people I’ve met think my short legs are my best attribute, because I look extra squatty, but I know that nose wrinkle is my golden ticket.  I have many more attributes in addition to my nose wrinkle, fine-looking legs and smokey coat. For example, I am crate trained and I’m super smart. I’m learning 2 commands, “touch” where I come to your hand and “sit.” If I can master any extra commands, it may put me in the bulldog genius category. I am suited to living in either the city or the suburbs. A home with minimal steps is required. I enjoy sunbathing in nice weather, so a fenced outdoor space is preferred.
Mainly what I’m looking for in my forever home is a person or people who have the patience to show a former mama the joy of being a true companion dog. I will need your guidance and gentle correction while I’m figuring out this whole new family dog routine. Sometimes I get nervous in new situations. I’m best suited to a routine oriented, adult only home, or with children older than 5 years who won’t leave toys in my reach (AKA dog prizes) for me to put in my mouth.  Sometimes, I can be a bit of a mischief maker. If you have another dog, I will need a slow, patient introduction process while I figure out this new arrangement in my world. Meanwhile I’m A-OK to be your one and only! I’m known to have spurts of energy, but I’m overall a chill gal. I do not require a person to be home all day, but while your away, foster mom suggests using the crate since I might get into your things if I get bored. I’m an inquisitive 3-year-old.
Medically, I’m a fairly healthy retired mama, not willing to do sit ups to lose the belly fat that comes with multiple litters of wee ones. I do have some vision deficits and have had surgery for a prior eye ulcer.  I require daily eye drops 3 different kinds, twice daily, so I’m looking for a dutiful parent willing to keep up and monitor my eye health.
My foster people have explained to me that I am ready to graduate from S.N.O.R.T. and branch out to find my own forever family. I’m ready to pack my bone and move on, so if you would like me to come and live with you, fill out an application for me, Smokey the English Bulldog!
