There’s nothing we like more than a rags to riches story, and Zoey is the star of this story!
Zoey was rescued from a situation of neglect and was likely used as a breeder. But no more!
Since arriving in foster care, Zoey has received all the love and care she missed out on in her first eight years of life. And she has SO much love to give in return! In fact, that’s one of the first things you’ll notice about her – she is a lovebug. She simply adores her foster mom and follows her around everywhere. She’ll even (gently) let her know when it’s been too long without a pet by placing her paw on her foster mom to let her know she’d like a bit of attention. And we dare anyone to deny that cute face!
She gets along incredibly well with her younger Frenchie foster brother – the two of them are besties! She’s not quite as close with the older male English bulldog in her foster home but largely gets along well with all dogs. She is displaying dominance lately so prefer she is the only female dog in the home. She’s untested with cats but has done great around children. She will need a home that is very experienced in English Bulldog behavior to keep her in line to not bother an older dog.
While she’s not terribly interested in toys, she does love a good walk! Because she’s a bulldog, her breathing leaves a bit to be desired so she needs to be careful in the heat, but she would love to take a walk with her humans when the weather allows!
Zoey has a cherry eye and it’s being managed with ointment; her current vet felt the surgery would not be a permanent solution and since it’s not bothering her, it’s being left alone for the time being. She also gets a daily Zyrtec for her itchies.
Because of her rough start in life, house training has been a work in progress. She definitely excels when she is on a schedule/routine and will need a family committed to continuing to work with her on house training but she has made leaps and bounds since arriving at her foster home. She does not like to potty while out on a walk or on a leash. She prefers to use the same spot in the yard. She usually needs to be wiped after pooping! She is ready for her forever home!
